Here, we build on design-based research efforts centered on exploring the potential of embodied interaction (EI) for mathematics learning. We sketch two emerging, reciprocal contributions: (1) a sociocognitive view on the role of automated feedback in building the perceptuomotor schemes that undergird conceptual development; and (2) a heuristic EI design framework.

In this book, Paul Dourish addresses the philosophical bases of human-computer interaction. He looks at how what he calls "embodied interaction"—an approach to Content, progress and pedagogy of the module. Objectives: The course presents the emerging theory of embodied interaction interleaved with practical implementations of intelligent systems, where the participants work on open-source, community-supported interactive audio-visual coding platforms, such as Processing and open Frameworks. In that vein, this The "Uncanny Valley" theory explains the counter-intuitive phenomenon where people may get suddenly uncomfortable with an artificial entity when it becomes very similar to humans. We propose the existence of an "uncanny valley" for embodied interaction, when a user's body motions in the physical space (the locus of interaction) are incompletely mapped into effects in the virtual space (the Laia Turmo Vidal is a Ph.D. candidate in interaction design and HCI at Uppsala University, Sweden. In her research, she investigates how to support movement teaching and learning through interactive technology.

Recent, empirically supported theories of cognition indicate that human reasoning, including mathematical problem solving, is based in tacit spatial-temporal simulated action. Implications of these findings for the philosophy and design of instruction may be momentous. Here, we build on design-based research efforts centered on exploring the potential of embodied interaction (EI) for

An interaction model specifies the mappings between input action and output response. Although metaphorical map-pings are promoted by several others (e.g., [22, 23, 37]), little is known about how to identify embodied metaphors, Content, progress and pedagogy of the module. Embodied Interaction The human body provides a rich resource for informing and inspiring meaningful tangible and embodied interaction design. On the other hand, interactive technology provides great opportunities for studying our embodied selves. We explore sensorimotor skills and couplings to shape extended bodily perception and experience.

However, identifying the embodied metaphors children use in their understanding of the targeted abstract concepts as well as translating them effectively into interaction models is not straight forward [ 5 ]. computer interaction keyed by computing events (McCullough 1996).2 People increasingly organized their use of computers through the interactivity its interface afforded. Graphical user interface design was an initial step towards acknowledging the importance of the experience of people using computers (Grudin 1990).3 I suppose, embodied interaction approach leads to the shift of the focus from a result of an action, when we… Design concepts / Design proposal / Domain investigation Materials “talk back” – an experience in participatory design with school children design and development.
